RV battery charging or not charging ?

When you're thinking about taking a short vacation away from the crowds and city life and planning a camping and RVing trip, it's time you learned some essential troubleshooting knowledge.
Here we'll discuss troubleshooting scenarios and solutions around RV lifestyle batteries, mainly for lithium iron phosphate batteries, but also in general.
The Role of RV Living Batteries
First of all, it is important to understand why the RV lifestyle battery supplies power, which reflects the importance of the RV lifestyle battery. It is essential for the RV living battery to be able to power the appliances that are placed in the RV when it is stopped. Here we refer to it as an RV battery.
The RV battery outputs DC electricity to power the DC appliances installed in the RV (refrigerator, air conditioner, lighting fixtures, kitchen appliances, and electronics, etc.), so that you can enjoy a home-like life throughout your trip.

Charging
Caravan battery charging methods: traveling charging, shore power, solar charging, generator charging.
Traveling charging: The electric energy generated by the engine when the caravan is running charges the living battery.
Shore power
Use a battery charger to tap into the power supply provided by campgrounds and RV parks.
Solar charging
Utilizes solar panels to convert solar energy into electricity and store it in the battery. Components needed for solar charging: solar panels, MPPT, etc.
Generator
Generator charging requires a DC-DC charger.

A trip that needs to last for a certain period of time usually requires a well-prepared reserve power supply. Since camping and RVing trips usually take place in remote areas, it is necessary to check battery levels and operation from time to time to avoid power shortages due to depletion or malfunction.
Are the batteries working properly?
Why choose lithium iron phosphate batteries for RV living batteries? Mainly because of the performance of LiFePO4 battery: high energy density, small size, light weight, long service life, depth of discharge up to 100%, etc. Compared with lead-acid batteries, LFP batteries are easy to carry with reduced weight and volume.
When camping, there is usually a need for lighter and more portable batteries. If you need to handheld to reduce the space occupation, SANFOU 12V series batteries will have a lot of choices, such as 12V50Ah, 12V100Ah, 12V100Ah UpGrade small weight and small volume, can meet certain power supply needs.
SANFOU is constantly launching new products to meet more power needs, which can be purchased at Amazon, Fnac, SANFOU POWER official website.

LiFePO4 battery life is up to 10 years and 5000+ cycles depending on actual usage, maintenance, environment and storage.
In general, it is not recommended to completely void-proof the battery. Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries are installed with a BMS protection board that prevents over-discharge, over-charge, high temperature, short-circuit, and over-current. If the battery cannot be charged after encountering over-discharge, it needs to be activated with a special charger with 0V activation. SANFOU 14.6V20A charger can be used.

Pay attention to the battery voltage.
Use a multimeter to measure a fully charged battery:
Lead-acid batteries: 12.4-12.8V, with a capacity below 11.6V, cannot power RV 12V DC devices.
Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery: 13.6V at full charge, peak charging voltage up to 14.6V.

Note that the voltage is determined according to the different chemical composition of the battery.

Poor performance or malfunction
Observe the condition of appliances in the RV that use battery power.
Light bulbs
Dim or flickering lights may be a battery failure.
Stove
Unable to light the stove, may be a battery failure resulting in insufficient power.
Circuit breakers
Tripped or blown fuse, may be a battery problem.
Frequent charging of the battery may also be a battery problem.

Unable to charge
Is there a problem with the battery connection. Loose or corroded connections can prevent the battery from charging.
Blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.
Faulty inverter.
Generator failure.
The battery itself is old and aged.

Parasitic power drain
Certain devices in the RV continue to draw power even after they are turned off.

When a fault is encountered, you need to troubleshoot each one to find the point of failure. Use a multimeter to measure the no-load voltage of the battery to rule out problems with the battery itself.
Check the wiring connections to rule out faults caused by improper connections.
Check the connection components for problems.
For detailed steps and troubleshooting methods, please refer to the instruction manual that comes with the purchased battery.
SANFOU batteries are equipped with battery instructions. In case of a malfunction, perform systematic troubleshooting in conjunction with the RV instruction manual.
